Marten H. Wegkamp, a professor in the departments of Statistics and Data Science and Mathematics, has been named a fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS).
Dr. Wegkamp received the award for fundamental contributions to empirical process theory, copula modeling, and statistical learning theory, and for outstanding service to the profession.
Created in 1935 and with 3,500 active members around the world, the Institute of Mathematical Statistics is a member organization that fosters the development and dissemination of the theory and applications of statistics and probability. A committee of peers selects nominees for the IMS fellowship. This year, the committee reviewed 73 nominations and selected 35 fellows.
