Xin (Mike) Bing, a doctoral student in Statistics and Data Science, has won the Lawrence D. Brown Ph.D. Student Award from the Institute of Mathematical Statistics. This worldwide competition recognizes just three outstanding doctoral students. As part of the award, Bing will give an invited talk at a special IMS invited session and will be honored in-person at the IMS Awards Ceremony and Presidential Address at the IMS/JSM meeting, taking place August 2021 in Seattle.
Bing is jointly advised by Marten Wegkamp and Flori Bunea, both professors in SDS.
