Kengo Kato, professor of statistics and data science in the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science, has been named editor in chief of Bernoulli, a flagship publication by the Bernoulli Society for Mathematical Statistics and Probability.
Kato assumed the post on January 1. Bernoulli is a quarterly journal with an emphasis on theoretical work in all subfields of mathematical statistics and probability.
Among his awards and honors, Kato is a fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS) and the recipient of the Japan Academy Medal, regarded as the most prestigious award for young Japanese researchers (2020). He also received the Analysis Award from the Mathematical Society of Japan (2021) and the Ann S. Bowers ’59 Research Award from Cornell Bowers CIS (2023).
