Cornell's John Abowd has been selected to receive the 2016 Julius Shiskin Memorial Award for Economic Statistics, an honor recognizing original and unusually important contributions in the development of economic statistics or in the use of statistics in interpreting the economy.
News of Abowd being named as the 44th recipient of the award was recently highlighted in a lengthy article published in AMSTAT News.
The Edmund Ezra Day Professor in Economics – and graduate field member in Economics, Statistics, Information Science, and Industrial Labor Relations – is credited with designing and implementing techniques to expand data gathering while tightening confidentiality among respondents. He is also recognized for developing econometric and statistical techniques to conduct labor market analysis.
