The Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS) and the Bernoulli Society are committed to help create and maintain a diverse work force in Statistics and, more broadly, in any data science related discipline. In this spirit, these societies have launched a new initiative, devoted to raising gender awareness and, by taking a global view, to addressing the specific challenges met by students and researchers from developing countries.
Statistics Professor Flori Bunea (DSS) will play an active role in this endeavor, at the Meeting of New Researchers in Statistics and Probability, a pre-meeting of the World Congress in Probability and Statistics, Fields Institute, Toronto, July 2016. She will give the kick-off research talk at the conference, and will represent IMS at a day-long panel meeting on career day.
