Florentina Bunea, professor of statistics and data science in the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science, has been awarded a grant from the Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach (MFO) to co-organize the institute’s week-long international meeting, Statistics and Learning Theory in the Era of Artificial Intelligence (AI), in June.
MFO, also known as the Oberwolfach Research Institute for Mathematics, is a premier international research institute in Germany and meeting point for the world's leading mathematicians to exchange ideas about the most recent developments in their field, initiate new projects, and connect with young scientists.
MFO sponsors up to two workshops on statistics each year. This year’s conference challenge and theme is on the interaction between AI, machine learning, and statistics.
