The Statistics Graduate Society will be hosting the Career Panel for Statistics and Data Science, 5:30 to 7 p.m., Friday, May 4, at Mallot 406. Three Cornell alumni will share their insights on careers in statistics and data science. If you are interested, please RSVP and submit any questions that you'd like the panelists to address.
Panelists are:
• Cecilia Earls, a lecturer in Cornell's department of biological statistics and computational biology, graduated from Cornell with a PhD in Statistics. Her research interests lie in the area of functional data analysis. Before coming to Cornell, she worked as an actuarial consultant in a human resources firm. She currently teaches courses in both statistics and actuarial science.
• Kushagra Aniket is a senior analyst at Cornerstone Research, an economics and financial consulting firm. He provides financial and economic analysis to corporations and government agencies involved in high profile commercial litigation and regulatory proceedings. He received his bachelor's degree from Cornell, studying economics, statistical science, and mathematics.
• Matthias Kormaksson is a senior principal statistical consultant at Novartis. He earned his PhD from Cornell in 2010. His research interests statistical machine learning, generalized additive mixed models, generalized linear mixed models, finite mixture models, cluster analysis, functional data analysis, high-dimensional data analysis, multiple testing problems in genomics, survival analysis, geostatistics, recurrent events analysis, Bayesian models, neural networks, stochastic modeling.
This event is funded by the Department of Statistical Science and GPSA. This event is open to the entire Cornell community.
