Florentina Bunea, professor of statistics and data science in the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science, will give a keynote talk at the 37th Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems (NeurIPS), held December 10 through 16 in New Orleans.
A pioneer in statistical machine learning theory and high-dimensional statistical inference, Bunea will present her talk – “Inference for the Wasserstein distance between mixing measures in topic models” – during the conference’s Optimal Transport and Machine Learning workshop.
This research provides and analyzes new estimators that can help flag documents that may appear related within a larger corpus, but are substantively different in nature.
