Sofie joined Dr. Sumanta Basu’s lab in January 2020 and is co-advised with Dr. Andrew Clark. She earned a Ph.D. from Cornell University in the field of Genetics and Genomics and studied how genetic interactions between females and males influence reproductive success in Drosophila melanogaster. For her Ph.D., Sofie made extensive use of RNA-sequencing to analyze gene expression data in mated females. For her current research, Sofie is working with other members of the Basu lab to further develop and apply a method to analyze high-dimensional time course RNA-seq data, with the goal to identify transcriptional networks contributing to various biological processes.
