Prerequisites to apply for the major include a minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA over at least two (2) semesters at Cornell University; and grades of C or higher in at least three (3) of the following courses to ensure foundational mathematical and statistical ability:

Calculus I and II (MATH 1110 & 1120)

Biological Statistics I (STSCI 2200/BTRY 3010) or equivalent

STSCI 3080 or MATH 4710 or ECON 3130

You must choose 1 course from the above selections (for a total of 4 credit hours) to satisfy the Probability portion of the Statistical Theory Core requirements.

STSCI 3200 and STSCI 4520 and STSCI 4030 and STSCI 4090

To complete the Statistical Theory section of the Core requirements, you must choose 8 courses from the above, including those from the Math courses, the Philosophy or Logic courses and the Probability course offerings.

STSCI 3100 and STSCI 3510 and STSCI 4100 and STSCI 4110 and STSCI 4140 and STSCI 4550 and STSCI 4270 and STSCI 4740 and STSCI 4780 and BTRY 6790

To complete the required Core coursework, in addition to the Statistical Theory courses, other Statistical Applications Courses may be considered by consent of the student's advisor.
